Octane Voted Best Fitness Equipment Supplier and Leading Elliptical
September 08, 2009
BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. – Octane Fitness, LLC, continues its unmatched streak of major accolades and fitness industry leadership in the seventh annual Specialty News® (SNEWS) 2009 Fitness Retailer Survey, where it was recently named the best supplier for the third consecutive year, and the top-selling brand of elliptical cross trainers, a prestigious title the company now has held for five years in a row.
“We are thrilled to be the only company to consistently win these honors every year, and we continue to pledge to our dealers and customers unmatched innovation, service and quality,” said Dennis Lee, president of Octane Fitness.
SNEWS, a weekly publication that covers the fitness and outdoor industries, annually surveys specialty fitness retailers nationwide to assess the state of the fitness equipment industry.
Octane was the definitive winner among 19 fitness equipment suppliers listed by survey participants in this incredibly competitive area.
And in the crowded elliptical trainer category, Octane proved unstoppable in its consistent leadership of the past five years, earning the most votes of 27 brands named and more than five percentage points more than the second-place manufacturer.
According to surveyors: “The real story is Octane’s non-stop rise to elliptical domination…in the category that many covet. Look in the dictionary and where it says ‘elliptical,’ Merriam-Webster may decide to put in Octane as the definition.”
Octane Fitness offers 10 standing and seated elliptical models for home use, and five commercial models, all available at more than 500 retail outlets worldwide.

Another month gone, how are you doing on your goals? I hope well. The holidays are coming and for many people that means more food coming as well.
This month I want to focus on the intensity of your workout. All of us have different max heart rates and we need to make sure we are getting our heart rate up to where it needs to be. I sent the formula in the September news letter, but for those of you that are new it is 220-(your age)=max heart rate. (Example 220-27=193) Okay so now you know how to figure your max heart rate, what do you do with this information? Get your heart pumping at least 65%-85% for major calorie burn. If you do this for at least 20 minutes you will turn your body into a calorie burning machine. If you walk for an hour yes you will burn calories but not to the full potential you could be burning by running. So run hard, cool down, then sit down and read the paper, and let your new muscle cells work on those calories.
Check this out from www.mayoclinic.com/health/metabolism/wt00006
The number of calories your body uses to carry out these basic functions is known as your basal metabolic rate (BMR) - what you might call metabolism. Several factors determine your individual basal metabolic rate:
* Your body size and composition. The bodies of people who are larger or have more muscle burn up more calories, even at rest.
* Your sex. Men usually have less body fat and more muscle than do women of the same age and weight, burning more calories.
* Your age. As you get older, the amount of muscle tends to decrease and fat accounts for more of your weight, slowing down calorie burning.
To help you keep track of the calories you are burning look into a polar watch. Bring in this Email and I will give you 15% off the retail price of our watches.
